Healthwatch Stockton-on-Tees is a part of Healthwatch England. We are the independent champion for people who use health and social care services. We listen to what people tell us about the services they use locally and want to know what is working well and what needs to be improved. Where necessary we have a statutory power to go into any health or social care premises to see at first hand the service being delivered. We can talk to patients/carers and to staff members to gather more information. We share the information we gather with those who have the power to make change happen. We also help people find the information they need about services in their area.
Health and social care works best when people are involved in decisions about their treatment and care. but this doesn't always happen. We are here to help make sure that those designing, running and regulating health and social care listen to people's views and act upon them.
Integrity, honesty and a desire to 'make a difference'. to the experiences of local people using local health and social care services. We also want people who can work as part of a team and to enjoy being part of a happy, fun, and energetic group of people.
We are only a small team but we all work together and support each other. We have a inclusive and flexible volunteering programme offering a wide range of roles to suit everyone. We are inclusive to all communities and people from different back grounds. We can offer an insight into the health and social care sector like no other organisation.
