THIS IS THE DEVELOPMENT SITE

Tees Valley Together
The objective of our organisation is the prevention or relief of poverty in the Tees Valley by providing: food, items and services to individuals in need and/or charities, or other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty.
ABOUT US:

The projects at Tees Valley together can vary as we are constantly looking at the needs of our local community and how we can best offer support. We recently held a community event to celebrate the Queens jubilee, ran a loan shark event for teenagers and created a tik tock, summer craft activities for families and have lots more in the planning.

Our core services are:

  1. Eco Shop - serving the community to avoid food waste and to support those struggling with feeding their families;
  2. Home from Home - clothing and household items from our home to yours, sold to families who need a bit of support. The families feel like they are still looking after themselves if they are paying their way so we offer them a place to replace clothing and household items. We have run this as a pop up shop but we will soon have a permanent shop alongside our eco shop.

We are currently running Crafting Creative Minds - A lottery funded crafting session for members of the public, focused on bringing the community together following Covid-19 and supporting each other with mental health and loneliness through our weekly craft sessions.

WHY OUR WORK MATTERS:

Many areas of the UK are suffering with poverty and deprivation. We, as an organisation want to support our local community to help alleviate poverty, and where possible help our residents live healthy lives. Due to the ever-increasing costs and the current energy crisis our support has never been more important, or needed. The feedback from the families and individuals that we support is that our services are needed, and that they would use us more if we had capacity to provide further services. Tees Valley Together makes a difference to them and we are really proud of that.

THINGS WE ARE PROUD OF:
Delivered 427 food parcels over three days to residents of Middlesbrough on behalf of Middlesbrough Council. We called this project Middlesbrough Massive. We had three weeks to plan and execute the project and some how managed to get every parcel out. Since opening our Eco Shop in Hemlington in December we have collected 10,257 kg of surplus food and avoided it going to landfill. This is the equivalent of 24,422 meals and has saved 32,822 kg of CO2 going into the atmosphere! During the Covid-19 lockdowns we delivered food parcels on behalf of Public Health via Middlesbrough Council.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN OUR PEOPLE:

We are looking for volunteers who are honest, trustworthy and reliable. Being a highly motivated and empathetic individual would also be beneficial.

Having good communications skills and being able to listen and develop effective relationships with people is really important to us as an organisation as you could be the route in for someone seeking support.

All volunteers will undertake a DBS check

HOW WE ARE DIFFERENT:

At Tees Valley Together we pride ourselves on collaborative working. We feel that together we can achieve more.
